The MedicFest Summit Sessions
Pharmacology Lecture
Session 1 - Pharmacology & Toxicology Lecture
We all know that as an aspiring doctor you have got to have a high level of enthusiam and interest in how the body works. This lecture feeds that passion! Showing attendees how specific pain killers work to manage pain in a patient and why dosage is so important. We’ll go deep into human physiology looking a the cellular actions of these medicines at a therapeutic and toxic dose!
We’ll explore at least 3 pain relieving medicines, including
- Paracetamol
- Aspirin
- Morphine
This lecture will also be recorded so you can watch it back at home! This is a perfect way to build your knowledge and understanding of pharmacology and give you subjects to talk about in your interviews.
Use Real Medical Kit!
Sessions 2, 3 & 4 - Interactive Hands On Workshops
At each one of our MedicFest Summits, you’ll will experience using some amazing equipment that explores their own physiology and gives an insight into many different areas of medicine. The sessions are delivered by both student and junior doctors who have been there an done it, giving you plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout the day.
The most popular activities include:
- Using an ultrasound to explore bones, muscles & even internal organs!
- Trying key hole surgery on a simulator used by surgeons in practice
- Taking a photo of the inside of their eye
- Suturing fake skin
- Taking blood from a fake arm
There are lots of links to many areas of medicine including Medical Engineering, Computer Science, Surgery, Healthcare Science and much more, providing so many talking points for applications and interviews.

Sessions 5 - UCAS Masterclass and Q&A
During the UCAS Masterclass, we’ll show you how to craft a stand out personal statement and what the essential factors that admissions teams look for. Whether you’ve had a stack of work experience or just attended a Summit, we’ll show you how to use this and demonstrate that you’ve made an informed decision.
We’ll show you:
- How to use ANY form of work experience in your application
- Why making an informed decision is THE most important aspect
- Why saying you've wanted to be a doctors since you were 5, is not going to cut it.
